Brightening up from the southwest through the day and becoming breezy, with sunny spells and scattered showers following. Some of the showers will be heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail, especially in the west and north. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, with southerly winds veering westerly and increasing moderate to fresh and gusty with the clearance of the rain, strong near coasts.

A mix of clear spells and further showers tonight, some of them heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. The showers will become increasingly confined to the western half the country overnight. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate west to southwest winds, fresh to strong near Atlantic coasts.

Cool and breezy tomorrow, Thursday, with sunny spells and showers in the west becoming fairly widespread by the early afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy, with isolated thunderstorms and hail possible. Highest temperatures of just 13 to 16 degrees, in moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty southwest to west winds, stronger along western and southern coasts.
