Sunny spells with widespread showers this afternoon, heavy at times with the risk of isolated thunderstorms. Some showers may fall as hail or sleet, possibly turning to snow at times on higher ground. Cold, especially near showers, with highest temperatures of just 5 to 8 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.


Wintry showers will become isolated early tonight and mainly confined to northwestern coastal areas overnight. Clearing skies will lead to another very cold night with widespread frost and some icy stretches possible. Lowest temperatures will range between -3 and 0 degrees, in light to moderate northerly breezes.


Sunday will be cold and bright with sunny spells. There will be isolated showers of rain or sleet during the morning. Cloud will increase in the west and northwest during the evening, before rain moves into Connacht and west Ulster. Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, coldest in Ulster, with light north to northwest breezes.
