Early tonight, rain in the east and south of Ireland will spread north-westwards, becoming widespread by midnight. Rain will continue overnight, turning heavy with the chance of localised flooding. Becoming windy also with moderate east to southeast winds increasing strong and gusty overnight with gales in eastern costal areas. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.

Tuesday will be wet and windy as Storm Chandra tracks over the country. Heavy rain in the morning will gradually clear northwards with showers following. Fresh to strong gusty east to south-east winds with gales near east and south coasts. Becoming very windy for a time in southern parts of Cork and Kerry with gale force westerly winds. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
