Mostly cloudy to begin today, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle extending southeastwards over the country, along with some mist patches. Brightening up over Connacht and Ulster this afternoon but mostly cloudy conditions with patchy rain and drizzle will persist further south and east. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, coolest in the northwest, with light to moderate southwest winds veering light northwest as the rain clears.

Remaining cloudy, rain and drizzle in the south and east will clear early tonight with clear spells developing. Cloud amounts will build from the northwest overnight with the odd light shower possible. Isolated patches of mist and fog will form in the mainly light westerly or variable breezes, moderate near western and northwestern coasts. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees.

Largely dry tomorrow, Wednesday, with just a few light showers in parts of the west and northwest. There'll be a mix of cloud and bright or sunny breaks, these at their best and most prolonged in parts of the east and south. Light to moderate westerly breezes, fresher near the northwest coast. Highest temperatures 13 to 15 degrees.
