TODAY - Monday 26th January

A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers further west this evening, but it'll remain rather dull and wet further east. The rain will clear to the north-east later on. Moderate to fresh southeasterly winds easing light as the rain clears.

TONIGHT

Mainly dry at first with a mix of cloud and clear breaks and areas of mist and fog. Rain will become widespread overnight, turning heavy at times. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees, coldest where clear breaks occur early on in the night. Light variable winds at first will become easterly overnight, increasing fresh to strong and gusty by morning with gales developing along the coast.

TOMORROW - Tuesday 27th January

Wet and windy to begin on Tuesday with rain giving way to clearer, brighter breaks and showers during the morning. Further spells of rain will spread up from the south later in the morning and afternoon.The rain will be persistent in the south and east and combined with already saturated ground will lead to some localised flooding. Fresh to strong and gusty east to southeast winds will reach near gale at times in the afternoon and evening with gales along the coast. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Tuesday night: Wet and windy at first on Tuesday night with widespread showers or longer spells of rain. Winds will gradually ease overnight and the showers will become scattered with longer clear breaks developing. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty easterly winds becoming southerly and easing moderate to fresh by morning.

Wednesday: Some early bright spells in the north but overall, rather cloudy with further showers or longer spells of rain feeding up from the south in mostly moderate to fresh southeasterly winds. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees. Showers or longer spells of rain look set to persist through Wednesday night. Some clearer drier breaks may develop in some parts. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh southeasterly winds.

Thursday: Another rather cloudy day is signalled with further showers or longer spells of rain. Some limited brighter intervals could occur. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southeast to east winds, fresher further north.

Friday: Again rather cloudy overall with further showers or longer spells of rain, possibly heavy. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh easterly winds easing light to moderate southerly.

Next Weekend: Little change with the chance of showers or longer spells of rain persisting across most areas as low pressure continues to dominate.
