Saturday will be breezy and showery for the morning and early afternoon, showers prolonged at times and possibly heavy. Through the afternoon, bright or sunny spells will develop, with the showers becoming isolated. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in mostly moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds, strong on coasts, gradually easing later.
Overview: Unsettled and changeable with low pressure dominating bringing spells of wet and windy weather. There's the potential for very windy weather to develop on Monday night and for a time on Tuesday. There'll continue to be drier sunnier calmer interludes too and it'll be relatively mild with little or no danger of frost.
Saturday night: Apart from a few scattered showers in northern parts, it'll be dry in most places for a time with clear spells. Cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will extend from the southwest overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with winds decreasing light to moderate and backing south to southeast.
Sunday: There's some uncertainty in the detail for Sunday, but currently it looks like further outbreaks of rain will push up from the south and will be heavy at times, especially in the east and northeast. A clearance to brighter spells with scattered showers will extend from the west later, though the rain may linger in the east and northeast for much of the day. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with light to moderate southeast or variable winds veering southwest to west.
Sunday night: Sunday night will bring some clear spells, but showers will spread from the west and some will be heavy, with the chance of isolated hail and thunder. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in mostly light to moderate southerly winds, freshening a little, mainly in southern and western coastal parts.
Monday: It looks like Monday will bring sunshine and a scattering of showers for a time. The showers will tend to die away through the afternoon as cloud increases from the southwest, with rain moving into the southwest in the evening. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with mostly moderate southerly winds, fresher in southern and western coastal parts, backing southeasterly later and starting to freshen generally.
Monday night: Becoming windy or very windy, with strong to gale force and gusty southeast winds veering south to southwest and with heavy rain spreading from the southwest, followed by showers. The winds may potentially reach strong gale force in western and northwestern parts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees early on, but it'll become very mild with the rain.
Tuesday: Continuing windy for a time on Tuesday, with sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy, and potentially more persistent rain in northern parts. The strong to gale force winds southwest winds will gradually ease. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.
Wednesday: A breezy day with sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy and potentially of hail and thunder. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest to west winds.
Further outlook: Remaining unsettled for the rest of the week and the following weekend with further spells of wet weather at times and breezy at times and while temperatures may fluctuate and drop a little from earlier in the week, they'll generally be around average or possibly a little above for the time of year.
