TOMORROW - Tuesday 31st March

Cloudy overall tomorrow, Tuesday, with patchy drizzle or occasional light showers, but a few bright or sunny breaks will also develop. It'll feel mild with highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees in light to moderate west to southwest winds.

National Outlook

Overview: Generally benign weather conditions to start the week. Turning more mixed and changeable around midweek, before becoming more generally unsettled towards the end of the week and into Easter weekend.

Tuesday Night: Limited clear spells for a time early on Tuesday night, especially further east, but mostly cloudy overall with patchy drizzle and mist. More persistent rain and drizzle will start to move into coastal parts of the northwest and west towards morning. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light to moderate south-west winds, freshening in northwestern coastal parts overnight.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy to begin on Wednesday with patchy drizzle and mist but more persistent rain developing in the northwest will spread southeastwards over the country through the morning and afternoon. A clearance to mostly dry and brighter conditions will gradually extend from the northwest with some late evening sunshine developing for most. Afternoon highs of 10 to 14 degrees but it will turn cooler as the rain clears and the mostly moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds, change north to north-west. Becoming mainly dry and cold with clear spells on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with light northerly winds becoming variable will allow patches of mist, fog and frost to form.

Thursday: Mainly dry, bright and crisp to begin in many places on Thursday but cloud will soon build from the west with outbreaks of rain spreading eastwards as the day goes on. Afternoon highs will range 7 to 11 degrees with light southerly winds increasing moderate or occasionally fresh for a time before veering westerly and easing.

Friday (Good Friday): Still quite a lot of uncertainty in the detail for Friday at this lead time but current indications suggest a windy day with gales developing on western and northwestern coasts along with spells of rain at times. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds.

Rest of Easter Weekend: A mobile Atlantic regime looks set to dominate with areas of low pressure potentially bringing wet and windy weather at times, especially in the west and north. Some drier, brighter and calmer intervals will occur too with sunshine and a scattering of showers. Temperatures will tend to fluctuate, and the chance of wintry precipitation can't be ruled out.
