Cold and clear this evening with frost and ice setting in quickly. Some wintry showers will occur too, mainly across Ulster and near western fringes.

Very cold tonight with a slight to sharp frost and icy stretches. Some wintry showers will continue, especially across Ulster with falls of sleet and snow here. While it will remain largely dry elsewhere, stray wintry showers will feed down into other areas too. Lowest temperatures of zero to minus 3 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresher for northern and north-western coasts.

Saturday will be another cold day with frost and ice to begin. There will be some lying snow too from overnight wintry showers, mainly across Ulster. Overall dry with lots of winter sunshine. However, some further wintry showers will once again move into north and northwest counties with the odd flurry elsewhere. Highest temperatures of only 2 to 6 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
