Apart from a few scattered showers in the west, it'll be mainly dry at first this afternoon, with some sunshine continuing in the east and north. It'll continue to become increasingly cloudy from the west though, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle soon moving into the southwest and slowly extending further northeastwards. It'll stay dry though in the north and east until tonight. Highest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees, mildest for southern coasts, with light to moderate southwesterly winds, backing southerly and freshening in the south and west in the evening.

Cloudy and wet for a time tonight, with the rain continuing to move northeastwards, turning heavy at times. Rain will gradually become confined to the northeast by morning as clear spells and showers follow, some heavy with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. Breezy for a time with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, stronger in southern and eastern parts, veering southwest to west as the rain clears and easing light to moderate. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, with a touch of frost in places.

Lingering rain in the northeast will gradually clear tomorrow morning, leaving sunny spells with scattered showers for the western half of the country, some heavy with a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. A spell of showery rain will spread from the west through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, increasing fresh in western parts later.
