Cool today with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. Scattered showers in the west during the morning will spread eastwards through the day, with some heavy bursts possible. Rain will develop in the southwest this evening. Highest temperatures of just 11 to 14 degrees, in a light northwesterly or variable breeze. Later winds will back southerly and strengthen on west and southwest coasts.


Tonight showers or longer spells of rain will spread across the southern half of the country, with some heavy thundery bursts at times. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees. Moderate to fresh southeasterly breezes will veer westerly and increase strong to near gale force and gusty along western coasts.


Thursday will be a cool, blustery day with scattered showers, merging to longer spells of rain, with some heavy bursts in places. Highest temperatures of just 9 to 13 degrees, in mostly moderate to fresh and gusty northerly winds, but strong to gale force west to northwesterly over Munster.
