Becoming wet and windy today with coastal gales. Rain in the Southwest will extend northeastwards to all areas through the morning with heavy and squally bursts possible, especially this evening. Spot flooding is possible, particularly in parts of southern Munster. Cool with highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees with strong and gusty south to southeast winds developing.

Continuing wet and windy early tonight across eastern and northern counties with spot flooding. The rain will clear eastwards overnight and will be followed by scattered thundery showers of rain and hail. Strong and gusty southerly winds will ease off somewhat for a time overnight. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees.

Amárach

It will become windy again on Saturday with mostly strong and gusty south to southwest winds. While it will be a largely sunny start across the East and Northeast, scattered blustery heavy showers elsewhere will become widespread by early afternoon, with embedded hail and some thunderstorms too. Showers will merge to longer spells of rain later, especially for Atlantic counties. Cool with highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.
