Continuing wet across much of the east, south and midlands today. The rain will be heavy and persistent at times with the chance of thunderstorms and the potential for surface flooding. Drier in the west and north with some hazy sunny spells breaking through. However, scattered showers will develop here through the afternoon and evening, some of which could be locally torrential with thunderstorms. Highest temperatures this afternoon of 17 to 23 degrees, warmest across the west and north, with light northeasterly breezes, turning gusty near heavy showers.

Tonight, outbreaks of rain will continue over much of the south, east and midlands, turning heavy in places with thunder possible. It will be drier in the west and northwest. The rain will gradually ease overnight and start to clear eastwards by morning. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, with light northwesterly or variable breezes allowing patches of mist and fog to form.

Tomorrow, areas of mist and fog, and any lingering rain in the east, will clear through the morning. Becoming a bright day for most with sunny spells and scattered showers, some possibly heavy or thundery.
