Frost for a time early tonight, mainly in the northeast. Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue to move up across the country, turning heavy and persistent at times later. Some falls of sleet or snow later too, mainly across Ulster and the north midlands. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees Celsius, but turning less cold in the southwest towards morning, along with freshening southerly winds.

A wet and breezy start on Tuesday with outbreaks of rain and some snow for a time over Ulster. Drier weather in the southwest will quickly extend to most areas. However, it will be rather cloudy with patchy mist and drizzle. Some outbreaks of wintry rain will continue to affect Ulster, mainly confined to northern coast by evening. Staying quite cold in Ulster with afternoon highs of just 4 to 7 degrees Celsius, but milder elsewhere with values of 8 to 11 degrees Celsius. Fresh southerly winds will veer westerly during the day.
