TODAY - Monday 19th January

Starting off cloudy with widespread outbreaks of rain and drizzle. A clearance to drier conditions, with some sunshine too, will slowly spread from the southwest, with the rain largely becoming confined to Ulster and north Leinster by evening. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with light variable winds.

TONIGHT

Any lingering rain or drizzle in Ulster will mostly clear during the first half of the night, leaving mainly dry and cold conditions with clear spells, allowing some patches of frost and ice to form. Some mist and fog patches will also develop in light variable winds. However, cloud will build from the southwest through the second half of the night with wet and windy conditions following towards morning. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees.

TOMORROW - Tuesday 20th January

Starting off cloudy with wet and windy conditions moving northwards over the country. The rain will be heavy at times. A clearance to dry conditions with sunny spells will follow before showers or further spells of rain push in from the south. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with fresh to strong and gusty easterly winds easing with the clearance of the rain.

Overview: Generally unsettled with rain and showers each day, breezy at times too.

Monday night: Any lingering outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the north will clear early on, leaving a clear, cold and dry night for many, with areas of fog developing in light southeasterly or variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with patches of frost and ice forming. Towards morning, outbreaks of rain will develop in the southwest with freshening winds.

Tuesday: Areas of fog will clear through the morning as it becomes breezy with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, gradually extending northeastwards through the day, alongside fresh and gusty southeasterly winds. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Tuesday night: Cloudy and breezy for most with limited clear spells developing and scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees, with moderate to fresh and gusty southeasterly winds.

Wednesday: Breezy with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty southeasterly winds.

Thursday: Current indications show dry and bright conditions initially before a further spell of wet and blustery weather moves in from the Atlantic. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, with moderate southeasterly winds increasing fresh to strong.

Further outlook: Likely continuing unsettled with further spells of rain and showers on Friday and for the weekend.
