The weather certainly played its part in a fantastic few days of the 2024 National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska, Co Laois this week, where the Met Éireann team was out in force once again, as part of the Government of Ireland Village.
Joined by more than 1,000 fellow exhibitors, the Met Éireann stand took pride of place in the ‘We’re Taking Climate Action’ tent, providing interactive digital presentations of key products and services, displays of weather instrumentation and the ever-popular Met Éireann Quiz.
There were also live weather briefings and daily presentations on climate change and climate projections for Ireland from the stage, by forecasters, Rebecca Cantwell, Gerry Murphy and Michelle Dillion, and Jordan Delmar, Paul Moore and Rhonda McGovern, from the Climate Services Division.
With a total of almost 250,000 people coming through the gates of the event over the course of the three days, it was great to meet and chat with so many different faces from around the country, including Tánaiste, Micheál Martin, and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue.
Huge thanks to all those involved in organising the event, to the entire Met Éireann team on the ground, and to all those who took the time to visit us. Roll on Ploughing 2025!
