TOMORROW - Sunday 11th January

Tomorrow morning will start dull with mist and patchy rain, drizzle and fog. It will become wet and windy during the afternoon as a spell of rain spreads northeastwards across the country, followed by heavy showers. South to southwest winds will become very strong and gusty, with gales or strong gales in coastal areas. Milder than recent days with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

National Outlook

Overview: An Atlantic mobile regime will be in place for the week ahead with changeable and often unsettled weather. Low pressure will dominate, bringing spells of wet and at times blustery conditions, but with some shorter drier spells and lighter winds. Mean air temperatures will have recovered and will be around average overall for the time of year.

Sunday night: Continuing windy into Sunday night, though the winds will tend to ease, becoming moderate to fresh southwesterly. Rain will clear northeastwards early in the night, with clear spells and scattered showers following. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

Monday: Monday will bring a mix of sunshine and while there'll be good dry spells, there'll be some showers around too. Later in the day, it looks like a spell of rain will start to move up from the south. Breezy with moderate to fresh and occasionally gusty southwesterly winds, easing mostly moderate in the evening. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.
Monday night: Rain will become fairly widespread on Monday night, turning heavy at times. There'll be hill and coastal mist and fog too. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light or moderate variable winds.

Tuesday: While there's some uncertainty, it looks like Tuesday will bring further spells of rain or showers, heavy at times. There'll be some mist and fog in parts for a time too. It'll probably become drier later with perhaps a few bright spells. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light to moderate variable winds, becoming moderate to fresh north to northwesterly.
Tuesday night: Any lingering rain or showers will clear early on Tuesday night, to leave a mainly dry night with clear spells. Wind will ease light to moderate westerly allowing temperatures to drop to between 0 and 4 or 5 degrees, with some frost and icy patches possible especially further to the east. A few isolated mist and fog patches are likely too.

Wednesday: Dry for a time on Wednesday with some sunny spells, but it'll become cloudy with rain and drizzle spreading from the west through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 or 11 degrees with freshening southerly winds.
Wednesday night: The rain will clear eastwards early on Wednesday night with clear spells to follow and some scattered showers. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees with south to southwest winds easing light to moderate.

Further outlook: It'll continue changeable and unsettled for the rest of next week and weekend.
