Met Éireann leads a major study on the future of Ireland's climate

The Research Division at Met Éireann recently led a major study on the future of Ireland's climate, which looked not just at potential changes in our climate but also the subsequent effects on wildlife, public health, air pollution, waves and renewable energy through to the middle of the century.

March Weather: Variable rainfall, temperature and sunshine across the country.

Rainfall was variable across the country with above average totals in parts of the West, Southwest, South and at Casement Aerodrome. Mean temperatures were mainly on or above their LTA except at some coastal stations in the West and Southwest.

Cherrapunji, India, Holds New Record for 48-Hour Rainfall 
07 April 2014

A World Meteorological Organization (WMO) panel has concluded that Cherrapunji in India now holds the world record for two-day (48-hour) rainfall, with 2 493 millimeters (98.15 inches) recorded on 15–16 June 1995.
