A cool and sunny start to the day in most places, but cloudy along the east coast. Cloud in the east will gradually extend westwards across the country and this afternoon will bring a mix of cloudy and sunny periods. A few showers will arrive in eastern coastal counties towards evening. Top temperatures today of 8 to 10 degrees in mostly moderate easterly breezes, fresh to strong and gusty near eastern and southern coasts.


Tonight will be mainly dry with a good deal of cloud and some clear intervals. Some showers will develop in the east and south. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.


Tuesday will be cold and mostly cloudy. Showers will spread westwards across much of the country through the morning, becoming more prolonged in the afternoon. The north and west of Connacht and Ulster will stay mainly dry with some bright spells. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with moderate to fresh, gusty northeast winds.
