TODAY - Sunday 15th December

Today will be mostly cloudy with patchy light rain, drizzle and mist, but dry intervals too. Milder than recently with highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees and moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong at times in some northern and western coastal areas

TONIGHT

Tonight will continue mostly cloudy with patchy light rain or drizzle, possible persistent for a time near the north coast. Some patches of mist also. Breezy with moderate to fresh southwest winds and lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.

TOMORROW - Monday 16th December

Monday will be mainly dry with a fair amount of cloud and some bright or sunny intervals. There'll be a few showers also, mainly in the west. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with moderate southwest to south winds.

National Outlook

Overview: Becoming unsettled from Tuesday onwards with spells of rain and blustery winds at times.

Monday night will be largely dry with clear spells. Cloud will increase from the west overnight and some rain or drizzle will develop. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with winds becoming southerly and freshening.

Tuesday will be cloudy with rain becoming persistent in the west and spreading eastwards to all areas. It will become quite windy also with fresh to strong, gusty southerly winds. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees. On Monday night, rain will clear eastwards with scattered showers following. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with fresh southwest winds, strong and gusty in coastal areas.

On Wednesday, persistent rain will spread northeastwards over Ireland. It will be heavy at times with localised flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with Moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds. On Wednesday night, rain will clear and scattered showers will follow from the west as winds becoming moderate to fresh northwesterly. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees

Thursday will a cold, bright fresh day with sunny spells and showers, some heavy and of hail. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh to strong, gusty northwesterly winds. On Thursday night, showers will gradually die out and winds will ease. It will be cold with lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees and with frost and icy patches developing.

Through Friday and next weekend, there will be further spells of rain, showers and strong winds at times. Temperatures will fluctuate a little too, but generally close to average
