TODAY - Saturday 30th September

Rather cloudy for the rest of today with outbreaks of rain (heavy at first in the east) easing and becoming isolated. Misty in places also with fog on hills and near some coasts. Moderate to fresh and gusty southeast winds will veer south to southwest and ease somewhat.

TONIGHT

Cloudy and misty at first tonight but mostly dry. Isolated patches of rain and drizzle will give way to clear spells and isolated showers overnight. A mild night with temperatures dipping no lower than 10 to 14 Celsius in light to moderate southwest winds. Winds will be fresh and gusty at times near the west coast.

Sunday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells, hazy at times. The day will be dry apart from some well scattered showers in the west and isolated showers elsewhere. Top temperatures of 15 to 18 Celsius in mostly moderate southwest winds. Winds will increase fresh and gusty at times near the west coast and mildest in the east.

National Outlook

Sunday night: A breezy night especially in the northwest with fresh southwest winds although staying more light to moderate in the southeast. Generally cloudy with a few showers across Connacht and Ulster but mainly dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of around 9 to 12 degrees.

Monday: A rather cloudy start with a band of persistent rain over parts of the southeast early. Outbreaks of rain will also affect counties in the northwest too which will gradually spread further east later in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in southwest breezes.

Monday night: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain mainly across counties in the northwest. The rain will turn heavy at times too but elsewhere it will remain mostly dry. Southwest breezes will gradually turn westerly with lowest temperatures of around 7 to 9 degrees.

Tuesday: Another wet and rather blustery day. Outbreaks of rain will move across the country from the west later in the morning. Some heavy and thundery falls are possible too. The rain will gradually clear away from the south later in the afternoon with just a few showers lingering in the far north by evening. Westerly winds will be strong and gusty at times with highest temperatures of around 12 to 15 degrees.

Tuesday Night: Cloudy with a few showers lingering in the northwest but mainly dry elsewhere. Showers will move across the southwest overnight before spreading further north by dawn. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with westerly winds turning southerly overnight.

Wednesday: Current models suggest that there will be a few showers early on Wednesday morning, but they will gradually clear by the afternoon leaving a mix of cloudy periods and sunny spells. Rain is expected later in the evening however. Highest temperatures again in the mid-teens.
