TONIGHT

Continuing dry for a time tonight with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Outbreaks of rain will push up from the south later on, moving in across parts of Munster and south Leinster. Staying largely dry elsewhere until after dawn. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in mostly light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at first in the north and west and strengthening near southern coasts by morning.

TOMORROW - Thursday 18th September

Mostly cloudy tomorrow, Thursday, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle feeding northwards over the country through the morning and afternoon along with areas of hill and coastal fog. There'll be dry periods too, and some limited brighter intervals. Feeling mild again, with highest temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees, in light southerly or variable winds becoming fresher south to southwest through the morning and afternoon.

National Outlook


Thursday night: Dry for much of the northwest with isolated showers. However, showery outbreaks of rain will continue to affect southern and eastern areas. Mild and humid with lowest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds.

Friday: Showery outbreaks of rain will affect mainly eastern parts for a time, before clearing into the Irish Sea. A mix of cloud and some bright or sunny spells elsewhere with isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in mostly light breezes.

Mostly dry on Friday night with light winds and calm conditions leading to some mist and fog patches. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 12 degrees. Some rain may edge into the southeast by morning.

Turning gradually cooler over the weekend with northerly winds likely to set in. A good deal of uncertainty in the details at present with current indications suggesting some wet and blustery weather may affect parts of the east and south at times, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers elsewhere.
