National Outlook

Overview: A mobile Atlantic regime looks set to dominate, with areas of low pressure bringing wet and windy weather at times.

Wednesday night: Cloud and the last of the rain will clear from the southeast early on Wednesday night and it will become mainly dry with clear spells. It will become cloudier later in the night, with some drizzle possible near the west coast towards morning. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with frost, mist and fog possible as winds become light and variable.

Thursday: A chilly and mostly cloudy start to the day on Thursday, with the best of any sunny spells in the south and east. Mist and fog will clear during the morning and outbreaks of rain will develop in the west. These will move east through the day, although parts of the east may stay dry. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with a moderate southwesterly breeze.

Thursday night: Cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain in most areas. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with a moderate to fresh southerly breeze.

Friday (Good Friday): There is still uncertainty in the details for Friday, but current indications suggest a windy day with strong southwesterly winds and gales on western and northwestern coasts, bringing a chance of wave overtopping, along with rain and showers. Highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Friday night: Clear spells and showers early on Friday night, but becoming cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle overnight. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees with light to moderate south to southwest winds.

Saturday: There is potential for a spell of wet and windy weather on Saturday. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees but quickly becoming cold during the evening.

Rest of Easter Weekend: There is uncertainty in the forecast at this lead time, but at the moment it looks like Easter Sunday will be cool and blustery with sunny spells and scattered showers, then possibly turning wet and windy again Sunday night into Monday.
