Cold and clear this evening with frost and ice setting in quickly. Some wintry showers will occur too, mainly across Ulster and near western fringes.
Very cold tonight with a slight to sharp frost, along with icy stretches. Scattered showers will continue, mainly for Ulster and Connacht with some falls of sleet and snow. It will stay dry elsewhere, apart from isolated wintry showers. Lowest temperatures of zero to minus 3 degrees in light to moderate north-westerly winds, fresher for northern and northwestern coasts.
Saturday will be another cold day with frost and ice to begin. There will be some lying snow too from overnight wintry showers, mainly across Ulster. Overall dry with lots of winter sunshine. However, some further wintry showers will once again move into northern and western areas with perhaps the odd flurry elsewhere. Highest temperatures of only 2 to 6 degrees in light to moderate north-westerly breezes.
Overview: Plenty of dry and sunny weather. Cold with sharp to severe frosts developing overnight that may be slow to clear during the days and with wintry showers, mainly in the north and northwest.
Saturday night: Long clear spells with wintry showers in the north and west. Staying mostly dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of -4 to 0 degrees in light westerly breezes. Some fog or freezing fog patches may form.
Sunday: Cold with frost and ice slow to clear. Good spells of sunshine will occur along with well scattered wintry for Ulster, Connacht and parts of west Munster while staying largely dry elsewhere. Highest temperatures of 1 to 5 or 6 degrees in light to moderate west to northwest breezes.
Sunday night: Very cold and mostly dry though well scattered wintry showers will continue in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of -4 to 0 degrees in mostly light northwesterly winds.
Monday: Another cold day with frost and ice slow to clear leaving a predominately dry day with plenty of sunshine and with just isolated wintry showers for the north and northwest. Highest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in mostly light northwest to west breezes.
Monday night: Very cold again early in the night with just a few showers, mainly in the northwest. Lowest temperatures of -4 to 0 degrees with light westerly winds. It will turn less cold then as cloud builds from the west through the night with winds backing southerly and strengthening for Atlantic coasts by morning as outbreaks of rain move into the west and southwest.
Tuesday: Outbreaks of rain will track southeastwards across the country through the day though there will be dry intervals too. Highest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds developing for a time.
