There'll be further outbreaks of heavy rain this afternoon and for a time this evening, especially across the northern half of the country, with some localised flooding. However, a clearance to sunny spells and scattered showers already in Munster and parts of south Leinster, will continue to gradually extend northeastwards over the course of the rest of the day, with the last of the rain clearing from Ulster this evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong at times in the east.
Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells and just isolated showers. While southerly winds will be fresh in northwestern coastal parts, they'll generally be light to moderate, allowing areas of mist and fog to develop. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, maybe a little lower locally.
Mist and fog will be slow to clear from some areas tomorrow morning. After a mainly dry start with just isolated showers, cloud and outbreaks of rain will move into the south later in the morning and will move northwards through the day, turning heavy at times. Northern areas will stay largely dry until evening. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with mostly light to moderate east to northeast or variable winds.
Overview: Staying rather unsettled with rain or showers at times. Temperatures returning to normal for most areas.
Wednesday night: Cloud and showery rain will move northwards over the country. The rain will persist in Ulster and parts of Connacht and north Leinster overnight but it will become drier further south. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees with light to moderate, variable winds.
Thursday: Northern areas will stay mainly cloudy with rain and moderate northeasterly winds. Further to the south it will be drier and brighter with sunny spells and just well scattered showers, along with light and variable breezes. Highest temperatures will range between 7 and 13 degrees from north to south.
Thursday night: It will become breezy on Thursday night as a moderate to fresh northeasterly wind develops. Cloud and patchy rain or drizzle will move up over the southern half of the country but it will be dry further north. Lowest temperatures ranging between 4 degrees in the north and 9 degrees in the south.
Friday: Many areas will have a wet and rather windy day on Friday, with widespread rain and fresh to strong northeasterly winds. Parts of Ulster and north Connacht may stay dry though, with moderate to fresh northeasterly winds. Highest temperatures of 7 to 12 degrees, coolest in the north.
Saturday: Breezy and mainly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain to start Saturday, but it looks like it will become drier with occasional sunny spells later in the day. Highest temperatures of 7 to 13 degrees, coolest in the north.
Sunday: Cool and largely dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers may drift in across the north and northwest on a light to moderate northerly breeze. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
