TODAY - Tuesday 23rd June

Warm or very warm and humid and dry for most today with plenty of sunshine and just the chance of an isolated shower. Cloudier at times though in the northwest, west and southwest, but with just a few isolated spots of drizzle, mist and with some coastal fog possible there. Highest temperatures generally of 22 to 29 degrees, warmest in the south and east, but a cooler 19 to 21 degrees in parts of the northwest, west and southwest in light, occasionally moderate, westerly or variable breezes.

TONIGHT

Continuing dry in most places tonight with some clear spells. Cloudy though further to the west and northwest with a few spots of drizzle. It'll gradually become cloudier in other areas too overnight, though clear spells will likely persist further south. There'll be a few mist and fog patches too. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees across parts of the west and north, but milder and humid elsewhere with lowest temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees. Winds will be light and variable.

TOMORROW - Wednesday 24th June

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will likely be fairly cloudy to begin, especially across the northern half of the country, while there'll be good spells of sunshine further south. The sunshine will gradually become more widespread through the day. While many areas will stay dry, a few spots of light rain and drizzle are likely at times, mainly in Connacht and Ulster, and especially further to the west, while a few isolated showers are possible elsewhere. Very warm or hot and humid with highest temperatures generally of 23 to 29 degrees, warmest across the southern half of the country, a little lower in some coastal parts, in light variable breezes.

National Outlook

Overview: A lot of dry weather with temperatures continuing to increase, becoming hot for Thursday, with very mild nights. More unsettled conditions developing for Friday and the weekend.

Tuesday night: Dry and mostly clear at first before cloud builds from the west with a few spots of light rain or drizzle possible in the northwest. Some southern and eastern areas will stay clear. Temperatures will not fall below 13 to 18 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes with some fog patches developing.

Wednesday: Rather cloudy in the morning away from the south and east with a few spots of light rain or drizzle. The cloud will break up through the day with spells of sunshine developing with a few showers too, mainly for the northwest and west. Highest temperatures of 22 to 29 degrees, highest generally for the southern half of the country, in light easterly or variable breezes.

Wednesday night: A mix of cloud and clear spells. Dry for most but a few showers are possible, mainly for the northwest. Temperatures will not fall below 13 degrees in the north and 18 or 19 degrees in the southwest, in light, occasionally moderate easterly breezes.

Thursday: A hot day. Mostly dry and sunny to start but a few showers may break out through the day, potentially heavy and thundery, especially in the northwest in the evening. Highest temperatures of 25 to 31 degrees generally in light to moderate southeasterly winds. Turning cloudier from the south overnight with patchy rain and drizzle. Temperatures will not fall below 15 to 19 degrees.

Friday: A mix of cloud and sunshine with showery rain, heaviest and most persistent for the western half of the country. Highest temperatures of 19 to 25 degrees, warmest in the east, in mostly moderate southerly winds.

Further Outlook: Rather unsettled with spells of rain and showers. Cooler too with temperatures reaching the high teens or low twenties but falling to low double digits during the nights.
