Cloud will increase across the south overnight and more persistent rain will develop in the southwest by morning. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, easing in most areas away from the south overnight. A combination of spring tides and onshore winds may result in coastal flooding, particularly at high tide along the south and east coasts.

TOMORROW - Wednesday 21st January

Rain will extend across Munster and southern parts of Leinster and Connacht early tomorrow morning, while further north there'll be scattered showers and some sunny spells. The rain will become widespread through the late morning and afternoon and will continue in the north and east into the evening, while a clearance to showers develops in other areas. Turning breezy again with moderate to fresh and gusty easterly winds, occasionally becoming strong. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees.

Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees. Coldest in the west and southwest in light to moderate southeasterly or variable winds.Thursday: Another generally cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain. Some sunny spells are possible in the southwest. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate southeast or variable winds, fresher in the northeast.Thursday night: Most areas will remain cloudy with continued rain and drizzle. However, some dry and clear spells are possible in the south and midlands. Lowest temperatures generally of 2 to 6 degrees, but falling to between -1 and +1 degrees under any clear spells, in moderate to fresh easterly winds.Friday: Dull, damp and quite breezy with further rain and drizzle spreading from the south. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds.Saturday: Current indications suggest that Saturday will be blustery with scattered patches of rain. More persistent rain is possible in the south.
