Mostly cloudy today with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle pushing eastwards across the country. More persistent rain will develop in the west and northwest this evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with generally moderate southwest winds, fresh to strong on Atlantic coasts.

TONIGHT

Cloudy and damp tonight with outbreaks of rain and drizzle along with some areas of mist. Later in the night, a clearance will move in across the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in moderate west to southwest winds.

TOMORROW - Friday 27th March

Rain and drizzle will clear southeastwards on Friday morning as drier and brighter weather spreads from the northwest. The afternoon and evening will bring a mix of sunshine and well-scattered showers. It will be breezy with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.

National Outlook

Outlook: Remaining mixed throughout the weekend with scattered showers and sunny spells. Night time will be chilly with frost and icy stretches developing in places, particularly under any clear skies.



Friday night: Generally dry and clear with coastal showers affecting Atlantic regions, turning wintry at times, with the chance of sleet. Rather chilly with overnight lows of 0 to 4 degrees in moderate northwest winds. Frost and icy stretches may form in places overnight.



Saturday: A bright and crisp day with sunny spells and scattered showers across the country, turning wintry at times in the northwest. Cloud will start to increase from the west through the afternoon, with showers becoming more isolated. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees, but feeling cooler in moderate to fresh northwest winds, strong on coasts.



Saturday night: Cloud will continue to spread from the west overnight, with eastern parts remaining clear at first. Generally dry but rain and drizzle will move in from the northwest towards morning. Overnight temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, mildest further west. Moderate west to northwest winds, stronger on Atlantic coasts.



Sunday: Wet and blustery with widespread rain and drizzle, heavy at times in the north and west. A clearance from the northwest will develop early on with sunny spells and isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in strong and gusty southwest winds veering westerly later.



Monday: Rather overcast with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds.



Tuesday: Another cloudy day in store with light rain and drizzle. Mild with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees in moderate westerly winds, stronger on northwest coasts.



Further outlook: High pressure will move in over the country on Wednesday for a time bringing a brief spell of settled weather. However, conditions will turn more unsettled from Thursday as high pressure moves east, giving way to further spells of rain and showers feeding in from the Atlantic.
