Mostly dry this evening apart from a few passing showers, although occasional rain and drizzle will affect southern coastal areas. Mist patches too, mainly along western and southern coasts. Moderate, occasionally fresh and gusty southwesterly winds will ease light to moderate early tonight.
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will return to southern and eastern counties for a time tonight, clearing eastwards later with a few showers following. Generally drier conditions further west and north with just a few showers. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.
Any lingering rain and drizzle in the south and south-east will soon clear on Friday morning, and it will gradually brighten up with sunny spells and just a few showers. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light to moderate northwesterly winds.
Overview: After a dry start to the weekend, it'll become wet and rather windy at times over the weekend, especially through Sunday, the first day of the meteorological Spring. Mixed conditions on Monday, with a dry sunny day to follow nationwide on Tuesday. Temperatures will fluctuate, with some alternating colder and midler spells and with temperatures overall coming in around average.
Friday night: Mainly dry with mostly clear skies leading to a widespread frost and some icy patches. Lowest temperatures of -3 to +1 degrees in a light westerly or variable breeze.
Saturday: A sunny and crisp start on Saturday with frost clearing. Cloud and scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle will move into western parts through the morning and slowly extend eastwards through the afternoon and evening. It'll hold dry for much of the day in the east, while a clearance will follow in to the west later. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees, with winds increasing moderate to fresh southerly, stronger for a time along the west coast.
Saturday night: Mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the southwest. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, stronger along Altantic coasts.
Sunday: A wet and rather windy start to meteorological spring with outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times, especially in the southwest and west, with some spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in fresh to strong southerly winds, reaching near gale to gale force in coastal parts of the west and south.
Sunday night: The rain will clear eastwards on Sunday night and the winds will ease moderate to fresh. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.
Monday: Monday will bring some bright or sunny spells and a good lot of dry weather in many areas for a time, apart from scattered showers in the west and northwest. Becoming cloudier from the northwest through the afternoon and evening, with a band of showery rain moving southeastwards. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds, starting to veer northwesterly later and easing light to moderate.
Monday night: Becoming mostly dry and clear on Monday night as the cloud and rain clears to the southeast. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with some frost and icy patches.
