TODAY - Monday 27th October

A mostly dry start across the country with some bright spells. However, increasing cloud and scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, across west and southwest counties, will gradually extend eastwards with some heavier bursts later across Ulster. Parts of the Southeast will stay fully dry; mildest here too. Light southwest breezes will veer westerly and slowly freshen. Highest temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees.

TONIGHT

Breezy tonight with scattered rain clearing southeastwards early on - a few heavy bursts. Long clear spells and scattered showers will follow, mainly affecting northwestern counties. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, mildest for western coasts, all in moderate to fresh westerly winds.

TOMORROW - Tuesday 28th October

Tuesday daytime will bring sunny spells and well scattered showers. During the evening, the showers will become more frequent, merging to some longer spells of rain across Atlantic counties. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

National Outlook

OVERVIEW: Mixed at first with bright spells and showers, but turning more unsettled later in the week with wet and blustery conditions.

Tuesday night: Showers continuing overnight, staying most frequent in the northwest, becoming heavy at times with a slight chance of hail. Largely dry with clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees, with moderate to fresh southwest to west winds.

Wednesday: Showers in the northwest will ease early in the morning to leave a dry and bright day for most with just the odd light shower and plenty of sunny spells. Cloud will begin to build from the southwest in the evening. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds easing later on.

Wednesday night: Gradually turning cloudy nationwide with outbreaks of rain extending to the southern half of the country by morning. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, mildest in the south, with light variable breezes increasing moderate southeasterly through the morning.

Thursday: A wet and blustery day with widespread outbreaks of rain turning heavy in places. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds.

Friday: There is uncertainty in the forecast but another wet and blustery day is likely with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Further outlook: Current indications show a continuation of unsettled weather for the weekend with further wet and blustery conditions.
