Warm or very warm and humid and dry for most today with plenty of sunshine and just the chance of an isolated shower. Cloudier at times though in the northwest, west and southwest, but with just a few isolated spots of drizzle, mist and with some coastal fog possible there. Highest temperatures generally of 22 to 29 degrees, warmest in the south and east, but a cooler 19 to 21 degrees in parts of the northwest, west and southwest in light, occasionally moderate, westerly or variable breezes.
Continuing dry in most places tonight with some clear spells. Cloudy though further to the west and northwest with a few spots of drizzle. It'll gradually become cloudier in other areas too overnight, though clear spells will likely persist further south. There'll be a few mist and fog patches too. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees across parts of the west and north, but milder and humid elsewhere with lowest temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees. Winds will be light and variable.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, will likely be fairly cloudy to begin, especially across the northern half of the country, while there'll be good spells of sunshine further south. The sunshine will gradually become more widespread through the day. While many areas will stay dry, a few spots of light rain and drizzle are likely at times, mainly in Connacht and Ulster, and especially further to the west, while a few isolated showers are possible elsewhere. Very warm or hot and humid with highest temperatures generally of 23 to 29 degrees, warmest across the southern half of the country, a little lower in some coastal parts, in light variable breezes.
Overview: The hot and humid weather will continue for the rest of the working week, with the heat peaking on Thursday. A lot of dry weather at first, but with some showers and thunderstorms from later Thursday. We'll see a gradual shift to cooler and more changeable conditions over the weekend, with some rain moving in from the Atlantic on Saturday, and drier and brighter fresher conditions for Sunday with sunshine and scattered showers.
Wednesday night: Very mild and humid on Wednesday night but dry for most on Wednesday night with clear spells. It'll likely be a bit cloudier across parts of Connacht and Ulster, but with just a few patches of light rain and drizzle possible in the west and northwest. Very mild and humid with temperatures not falling below 14 degrees in the northwest and 18 or 19 degrees in the southwest.
Thursday: Thursday is going to be an exceptionally hot and humid day across Ireland. A little patchy light rain and drizzle is possible early on in the northwest, otherwise it's likely to be mostly sunny for a time and staying dry for many. However, some shower cloud will form through the day, with this most likely in parts of Connacht and Ulster and especially in the northwest, with some thunderstorms likely there later. In general temperatures will range from the high twenties to the low thirties, maybe even getting to around 33 or 34 degrees, hottest across the midlands and west, a few degrees lower in some coastal parts, in mostly moderate east to southeast winds.
Thursday night: Further heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to continue on Thursday night in parts of the Connacht and Ulster, with a longer spell of persistent rain encroaching into coastal parts of the northwest and west, bringing the possibility of some spot flooding and frequent lightning. Elsewhere, it's likely to hold dry with some clear spells. An exceptionally mild and muggy night with temperatures not falling below 15 and 22 degrees, with winds generally easing light to moderate and variable in direction, though becoming moderate to fresh northerly in some coastal parts of the west.
Friday: Some persistent heavy thundery rain will likely affect northwest Connacht and west Ulster for a time on Friday, otherwise there's still likely to be a good deal of dry weather elsewhere, with sunshine, but with the chance of some showers and thunderstorms, especially further north. It'll possibly be cloudier overall in southern parts of Munster and Leinster. Still very warm or hot generally and humid with highest temperatures ranging from around 23 to 30 degrees, hottest across the northern half of the country, while it's likely to be a little cooler by the south coast, with values of around 20 degrees there. Winds will become mostly southerly and will be moderate to fresh.
Friday night: Another very mild and muggy night on Friday night with a mix of clear spells and some showers at first, before cloud increases from the southwest, and with rain starting to move in from the southwest and west. Lowest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.
Saturday: Some bright or sunny spells at times in the east, but mostly cloudy on Saturday with outbreaks of showery rain slowly becoming more widespread from the west. Highest temperatures of 17 or 18 degrees along the west coast up to around 23 or 24 degrees in the east, in moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Sunday: The last of the rain will clear eastwards on Saturday night or early on Sunday and cooler, fresher conditions will become established across the country. There'll be good sunny spells but with a scattering of showers too. Rather breezy, especially further west, with moderate to fresh southwest winds, a little stronger in western coastal parts. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 or 21 degrees, warmest in the east, so returning to average for the time of year.
