Further scattered showers this evening mainly across the midlands and east of the country, some heavy with a risk of hail. Rain will develop in the southwest later. West to northwest winds will back southerly and strengthen on west and southwest coasts with the arrival of rain.
Tonight showers or longer spells of rain will spread across the southern half of the country, with heavy thundery bursts and some spot flooding possible. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, possibly lower locally in Ulster where there is a risk of grass frost. Moderate to fresh southeasterly breezes will veer westerly and increase strong to near gale force and gusty along western coasts.
Thursday will be a cool, blustery day with scattered showers and longer spells of rain. There will be heavy bursts in places and some localised flooding possible. Highest temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees, but feeling cold in mostly moderate to fresh and gusty northerly winds, but strong to gale force west to northwesterly winds over Munster.
