Cold and icy tonight as a band of sleet and snow continues to extend eastwards across the country early tonight leading to some accumulations and hazardous conditions. Clear spells and scattered wintry showers will follow. There will be a widespread sharp frost with some icy patches as lowest temperatures fall to between -3 and 0 degrees generally in light to moderate variable breezes, freshening in the southwest by morning.

Tomorrow

A bitterly cold and icy start on Sunday with snow lying in many areas leading to some hazardous conditions. Wintry showers will continue through the morning with further accumulations possible. Showers will become more isolated by afternoon with some sunny spells developing also. Highest afternoon temperatures of just 1 to 3 degrees in mostly moderate northerly or variable breezes.
