Tonight

Staying cold this evening and tonight with dry and clear spells for most with frost setting in quickly and icy stretches forming on untreated surfaces. Wintry showers will become more frequent for a time this evening and tonight in the northwest with some further accumulations there. Cloud will build from the west overnight, raising temperatures slightly, with outbreaks of rain or sleet reaching Atlantic coastal areas by morning. Lowest temperatures of -4 to +2 degrees, with light to moderate westerly winds backing southwesterly by morning.

Tomorrow

Cold and dry to begin over the eastern half of the country tomorrow, Tuesday, with frost and icy patches. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the west will extend eastwards through the morning and early afternoon, becoming patchier as they do. Some wintry falls are possible in some parts with the rain intially, especially at elevation. Sunny spells and scattered showers will follow. Highest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, coldest in the east, with mostly moderate southwesterly winds veering northwesterly in the evening.
