Humid and generally very warm or hot this afternoon with variable cloud and some sunny spells, the best of these across the midlands and east. Showers or showery outbreaks will occur at times, mainly affecting the northwestern half of the country, some heavy with thunderstorms possible, especially further north. Mainly dry elsewhere for much of the day with just the chance of a few sharp possibly thundery showers. During the evening, showery rain will extend further eastwards. Highest temperatures generally of 23 to 30 or 31 degrees, hottest further east, closer to 20 degrees in western and southwestern coastal parts with some hill and coastal mist and fog at times. Winds will be light to moderate mainly southwesterly.
Tonight
Rather cloudy and humid for a time with showers or showery outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing to move eastwards, along with the chance of a few lingering thunderstorms. However, clearer and fresher conditions, along with a few light showers, will extend from the Atlantic overnight, reaching eastern and southeastern areas late in the night or early tomorrow morning. Temperatures will not fall below 12 degrees in the west and 17 degrees in the east, with light to moderate southwest winds, veering west to northwest.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Friday, will be a fresher day, with a fair deal of cloud around, but some sunny spells too. Plenty of dry weather with just some well scattered showers, mainly in the west and north. Highest temperatures will range from 17 degrees in the northwest up to 24 or 25 degrees in the south and east, in light to moderate northwest breezes.
