National Forecast

17 February 2026 18:30

Today

Mostly cloudy this evening with outbreaks of rain and drizzle slowly extending from the south-west and freshening south-easterly winds. Staying largely dry in the north and east.

Tonight

Becoming wet and windy overnight with outbreaks of rain becoming widespread, falling as sleet or snow at times in the northwest and over the Wicklow Mountains. Southeasterly winds will be fresh to strong. Lows of 0 to 5 degrees generally early on, but turning milder from the southwest through the night.

Tomorrow

Wet and breezy on Wednesday with widespread outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, possibly falling as sleet or snow for a time in the northwest. The rain will gradually become confined to the eastern half of the country during the afternoon with scattered showers following to western areas. The combination of heavy rain, saturated ground, together with strong onshore winds coinciding with high tides may cause river and coastal flooding. Highs of just 2 to 5 degrees in the north and northeast, but of 6 to 10 degrees elsewhere. There'll be fresh and gusty south-east winds, reaching strong to gale force on northern and eastern coasts.
