Today

Cloudy today with rain becoming widespread, turning heavy in places. Windy too, with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds. A clearance will gradually develop from the west through the afternoon with winds easing light to moderate behind the rain. Rain will linger over eastern counties until after nightfall. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees, turning a degree or two cooler as the rain clears.

Tonight

Any lingering rain along the east coast will clear to leave a mostly dry and clear night, with the odd isolated shower over Atlantic coastal counties. Patches of mist and fog may also develop. Noticeably colder than recent nights with lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees, in light to moderate southerly winds.

Tomorrow

Crisp with plenty of winter sun to start on Friday morning. Dry for most, apart from isolated showers affecting Atlantic coasts at first, before gradually becoming more widespread. Showers will turn heavy at times with a chance of hail or isolated thunderstorms, mostly affecting parts of the south, west and northwest. Breezy too, with moderate to fresh southwest winds, and highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees.
