TODAY - Tuesday 19th March

This morning will be dry for many with sunny spells and just a few showers. Turning cloudier from the south this afternoon with more frequent showers developing towards evening, some of which will turn heavy. More persistent rain will develop in the south later. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in a light westerly or variable breeze.

TONIGHT

A wet night tonight with widespread and occasionally heavy showers at first. Rain and drizzle in the south will spread northwards across much of the country overnight. However, some parts of the west and northwest will stay dry. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds.

TOMORROW - Wednesday 20th March

A cloudy start to Wednesday with rain over the eastern half of the country. Rain will clear into the Irish Sea by afternoon and it will turn dry with spells of sunshine across the country. Highest temperatures 8 to 12 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds.

National Outlook

Tuesday Night: Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain, though likely to stay dry in the far northwest. Winds will fall light overnight with overnight lows of 3 to 7 degrees. Later in the night the rain clearing southeastwards with a moderate northerly breeze setting in.

Wednesday: A cloudy and perhaps dull start Wednesday morning with overnight showers lingering across southern and eastern areas. They will slowly die out by the afternoon with long dry spells developing nationwide with sunny spells. Light northerly breezes and highs of 9 to 12 degrees.

Wednesday Night: Another cloudy but mostly dry night with light winds and lows of around 2 to 5 degrees. Overnight however southerly winds will freshen ahead of a band of rain moving into western counties.

Thursday: Cloudy and dull with widespread rain and blustery winds. The rain will be heavy at times in the north and west. Some drier periods will occur in the south. Highs of 11 to 14 degrees.

Thursday Night: Cloudy with scattered showers, perhaps a little more persistent across the northwest. Moderate to fresh westerly breezes but also quite mild overnight with lows of 7 to 10 degrees.

Friday: Current models would suggest Friday would be another very unsettled day with widespread showers, possibly heavy at times and strong and gusty winds too. Highs of around 9 to 12 degrees.
