TONIGHT

TOMORROW - Sunday 25th January

National Outlook

Overview: Successive areas of low pressure will bring a continuation of the unsettled weather.
Cold and breezy with further bands of heavy rain, possibly turning wintry in places.

Sunday night: Some early frost for southwest counties under clearer spells. Cloudier and breezier elsewhere with scattered falls of rain or drizzle, mainly for eastern and southern fringes. Cloud will thicken overnight as heavier rain pushes into Munster and west Connacht towards morning.
Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees.

Monday: Dull, wet and breezy with rain across west and south-west counties will quickly extend nationwide. The rain, heavy at times, will persist into the afternoon, before beginning to clear into the Irish Sea during the evening. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in mostly fresh, occasionally gusty southeast winds.

Monday night: Lingering heavy persistent rain, locally wintry, across east and northeast counties, will eventually give way to a dry, calm and clear night right across the country.
Cold with widespread frost and ice.
Lowest temperatures of -2 to + 1 degrees.

Tuesday: A cold morning with frost and ice, but with some sunshine further west.
Wet and windy weather will feed into eastern counties during the morning, becoming widespread by early afternoon.
The rain will likely turn heavy and possibly wintry but with snow mainly for higher ground.
A raw day with highest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, and feeling colder owing to very brisk easterly or cyclonic variable winds.

Tuesday night: Further outbreaks of wintry rain will occur with any snow, mainly for higher ground. Lowest temperatures of -1 to + 2 degrees in a moderating northeast or variable breeze.

Wednesday: A cold day with scattered outbreaks of rain, clearing northwards through the day, with longer drier spells developing across the southern half of the country.
Winds, variable in direction, will be lighter than previous days. However, some areas of mist and fog will occur as a result too. Highest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees.

Further outlook: A mobile Atlantic flow will bring little let-up to the unsettled weather.
