Some of the showers will be heavy. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees generally, but 6 to 9 degrees in Ulster.

TONIGHT

Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate south to southwest winds, increasing fresh to strong southwest in the southwest and along the south coast.

TOMORROW - Saturday 6th December

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be generally breezy with showers or longer spells of rain in places, most widespread through the morning and early afternoon. There'll just be limited sunny spells in the morning, mainly in the south, where it'll be driest. Through the afternoon, more in the way of bright or sunny spells should develop from the south, with the rain and showers moving northwards and becoming more confined to Ulster later on. Highest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in mostly moderate to fresh, occasionally strong and gusty southwest to west winds, though winds will be lighter in Ulster for much of the day, and will gradually ease in all areas later.

National Outlook

Overview: Unsettled and changeable with low pressure dominating bringing spells of wet and windy weather. There's the potential for very windy weather to develop on Monday night and for a time on Tuesday. There'll continue to be drier sunnier calmer interludes too and it'll be relatively mild with little or no danger of frost.

Saturday night: Apart from a few scattered showers in northern parts, it'll be dry in most places for a time with clear spells. Cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle will extend from the southwest overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with winds decreasing light to moderate and backing south to southeast.

Sunday: It's likely that rain and drizzle will clear northeastwards on Sunday morning, with some sunny spells and a few scattered showers to follow. However, there's a chance that further spells of rain could move up from the south through the day, to mainly affect southern and eastern parts. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with light to moderate southeast or variable winds veering southwest to west.
Sunday night: Sunday night will bring some clear spells, but showers will spread from the west and some will be heavy. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees in mostly light to moderate southerly winds, freshening a little, mainly in southern and western coastal parts.

Monday: It looks like Monday will bring sunshine and a scattering of showers for a time. The showers will tend to die away through the afternoon as cloud increases from the southwest, with rain moving into the southwest in the evening. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with mostly moderate southerly winds, fresher in southern and western coastal parts, backing southeasterly later and starting to freshen generally.
Monday night: Becoming windy or very windy, with strong to gale force and gusty southeast winds veering south to southwest and with heavy rain spreading from the southwest, followed by showers. The winds may potentially reach strong gale force in western and northwestern parts. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees early on, but it'll become very mild with the rain.

Tuesday: Continuing windy or very windy on Tuesday, especially through the morning and early afternoon, with sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy, and potentially more persistent rain in northern parts. The strong to gale force winds, which will most likely be southwest in direction, will slowly moderate a little through the day. Highest afternoon temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees.

Wednesday: A breezy day with sunshine and scattered showers, some heavy and potentially of hail. Highest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest to west winds.

Further outlook: Remaining unsettled for the rest of the week and the following weekend with further spells of wet weather at times and breezy at times and while temperatures may fluctuate and drop a little from earlier in the week, they'll generally be around average or possibly a little above for the time of year.
