Cloudy and wet in most areas today with outbreaks of rain, heavy in places. However, it will remain drier in parts of the west and northwest. Areas of mist and fog will affect coasts and hills but visibility will improve in the west. Top temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees. Winds will veer north or northwesterly in all areas later today and reduce moderate.


Rain will continue to affect the eastern half of the country for a time tonight with some heavy falls likely. However, drier and clearer conditions in the west will gradually extend eastwards, with the last of the rain eventually clearing from the east coast before dawn on Thursday morning. Temperatures tonight falling to between 5 and 10 degrees, coldest in the west. Winds will be light or moderate mostly northwesterly in direction.
