General Forecasting Division How Weather Data are transmitted This section of the website identifies and reviews the process of steps leading to the end product - 'the weather forecast'. Starting with weather data gathered from air, ground and sea, reports are sent to Met Éireann Headquarters where they are first received by Information Technology, Observations Section (I.T.) and then by Central Analysis and Forecasting (CAFO) where information is plotted and analysed. The General Forecasting Division (GFD) operates mainly through CAFO, located in Glasnevin Headquarters. The forecast is released finally to the public via the media. Met Éireann HQ
