17 March 2018- updated at 06:00

Windy and bitterly cold today, with stiff east to northeasterly winds, bringing a significant wind chill. Some dry periods, but occasional showers too, these mainly of rain and hail at first. But some falling as sleet and snow, later today and especially this evening. At that stage, some accumulations of snow are likely in some eastern parts of the province. Temperatures of 4 or 5 C., early on, but falling to 2 or 3 C., later this afternoon.

Very cold and windy tonight, with frost, ice and snow. The snow showers will be heaviest and most frequent in eastern parts of the province. There will be accumulations of snow in most places, before the night is out, with some drifting on high ground, in the stiff east to northeast wind. Lowest temperatures zero to -3 C., coldest inland.

Staying cold and windy on Sunday too. Further snow showers too, most of these in the morning and early afternoon, leading to further accumulations. But becoming drier later in the afternoon. Top afternoon temperatures just 2 or 3 C., but feeling even colder due to the wind chill and wintry showers.
