A few showers today but dry across the bulk of the country with occasional sunny intervals. However, later this evening patchy rain and drizzle will return to western counties. Highest temperatures of just 14 to 16 degrees across portions of Ulster and Connacht but reaching 17 to 20 degrees elsewhere. Winds will be moderate to fresh, mainly westerly in direction.


Dry in eastern areas early tonight, but patchy rain and drizzle in the west will extend to most places later tonight. Mild and humid with mist and fog forming in parts. Lowest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Met Éireann very high resolution climate reanalysis for Ireland  (MÉRA) - launch Friday May 26th
Met Éireann has carried out a 35-year very high resolution (2.5 km horizontal grid) regional climate reanalysis for Ireland using the ALADIN-HIRLAM numerical weather prediction system. This reanalysis spans the period 1981 to 2015 and includes surface, near-surface and atmospheric parameters. This dataset is the first of its kind for Ireland.
