Climate Data & Further Information

Long
term daily series of temperature and precipitation including
four Irish meteorological stations together with time series
plots are available from the European
Climate Assessment & Dataset website. ECA&D
is initiated by the European Climate Support Network ECSN,
and is supported by the Network of European Meteorological
Services EUMETNET.
Most historical
data held by Met Éireann are not available on this Web Site.
A range of Climate data and products can be obtained by completing
an Order Form or by contacting
Climate Enquiries. There are charges for
the supply of climate data. There is a list of Climate
Products which give details of each product. To ensure a prompt
response please provide these details:
- Name
- Company, if applicable
- Address
- Email Address
- Contact phone number
- Area, location of interest
- Product required
- Data - hourly/daily/monthly/yearly
- Time period (dates)
Our
database has a large amount of information available from our Synoptic,
Climate and Rainfall stations.
- Synoptic
stations record meteorological elements on an hourly basis,
such as air and soil temperatures, rainfall, wind, pressure,
weather, cloud, visibility, humidity, sunshine. Some have extra
elements such as solar radiation, evaporation and soil moisture
deficits.
- Climate
stations record meteorological elements on a daily basis,
such as rainfall, maximum and minimum temperatures. Some record
soil and earth temperatures, sunshine, solar radiation and evaporation.
- There
are approximately 550 Rainfall stations which record rainfall amounts
on a daily basis.
We can supply
data via E-mail, Fax, post, FTP, CD ROM and floppy disc. Once we have
your Order Form, we can supply
you with a quote of the cost, if requested. If you know exactly what
you need, and supply your payment details, we can begin your request
immediately. Prepayment is required before requests are processed. Payment
may be made by Visa, Mastercard, cheque, postal order, bank draft or
purchase order number for regular customers. Some of the Climate and
Rainfall stations do not have a complete unbroken record for any given
element. Not all observed elements are available for the synoptic stations
at Birr, Kilkenny, Mullingar and Clones, where some observations are
automated. Most data before 1941 are held in paper format only. From
1941 onwards most of our data are held in tables in an Ingres relational
database. Climate data may not be reproduced, re-used or redistributed
for any commercial purpose whatsoever, or distributed to a third party,
without written permission from Met Éireann. |
