Mullingar Synoptic Station is situated approximately 1.7 Km northwest of Mullingar,
Co. Westmeath. The lakes Owel, Ennell and Derravaragh are within 11kms radius
of the station.
History:
The station has been operating at its current location since 1974. It replaced the Station at Patrick Street, Mullingar which opened in 1943 with limited weather reports. Full 24 hour reporting commenced in October 1949. At present Mullingar is part manned and part automatic. Since April 2008 the Met station at Mullingar has been fully automated.
